Heater Control

My wife and I are motorcycle enthusiasts and as such we have been known to ride even if the weather is less than perfect. Anything short of a raging blizzard has been ride tested. We long ago decided that we also like heat, so new for this year I have installed controllers so we can control how much heat, just like a thermostat, no one is ever happy with just one temp. The expensive controller we purchased (linear control which is woefully inaccurate) while useful was bulky and the wife kept saying I BORG.... maybe one too many attachments Dear?

In my usual fashion I have gone way overboard, and maybe got carried away.

First I installed 2 controllers for me and put the displays behind the speaker grilles. Functional and decorative. Just a few more lights on a GW, no one will ever notice.

and with the key off they disappear.

I have installed a temperature controller that will turn the heated gear on or off at what ever temp I set it at.

This can be set to OFF(no heat), MAN[ual] (heated gear is running all the time) or AUTO (gear will turn on and off with temp).

The last switch will hold the GPS ON for a preset time after the key is turned off. Pet peeve of mine dealing with GPS, I am already on the road, in traffic, by the time its awake. Now when filling with fuel it doesn't sleep.

So now the good stuff....

I installed a mini computer and PWM drivers (pulse width modulator--for the less nerdy readers) for the passenger. So now she has logarithmic control, complete adjustability and only a remote chance of explosion/fire/spitzensparken!

So here I am uploading sofware into the wife's new heat controllers.

And a closup of all the stuff jammed in there. With plexi cover so she can still stuff her gloves in here without fear of electrocution. Did I mention she has a healthy respect (terror) of electricity? Any amount? even the micro little stuff?

Just another tale from the delusional mechanic.
