Lunch kit

When we were on our first bike holiday we found that eating 3 meals a day in a restaurant was just too much food. We also missed not being able to enjoy the picturesque roadside stops while we ate lunch, few roadside eateries compare to the great outdoors for 'atmosphere'.

A thought hit me last winter that what we needed was a mini cooler. As always I checked my scrap iron pile but this time there was nothing that was going to be even close to suitable. I guess you can't win every time.

This time the missus went looking and found several plastic cases that a tool would have come in. I tried several of them and settled on one with a low profile that would mount to the luggage rack with minimal modification.

I lined the plastic box with some bubble insulation (the kind you buy for hot water tanks)

At the continental breakfasts they were happy to give us 4 slices of bread and peanut butter and jam. A bit of ice from the vending machine for the fruit and we were good to go. The ice drained through the bottom and usually evaporated right away. Most days in the interior BC we stopped along the way and bought some fresh fruit for our picnic...MMMMMM!

All we then required was a scenic place to eat! Even the wife will agree I can make a mean PB-J.
