I have one of those old holiday trailers that was manufactured with a state of the art-- hand operated pump. The pump had failed as they always do because the seals dry out over winter. I thought I could engineer a better solution, the wife was pleased but slightly concerned (she knows me too well). I went out to my old 78 plymouth and did an inventory and found a windshield washer pump. The pump was no good as well as very rusty and dirty-not within wife specifications. It did however give me inspiration. With my usual capacity for acquisition I received a wiper pump from a brand new tractor (cracked reserviors do not pass pre-delivery inspections--warranty is generous). I mounted(loosely) the new pump in the trailer. On my next trip to UFA I found some plastic line that was a snug fit inside the spout. Now it was a just a simple matter of turning it on. I found a nice little potentiometer that I mounted in the old base. It runs a transistor that I also squeezed in the base. Sorry, I had it installed before I realized there was no picture. Take my word for it, it's there. success! Variable water delivery. Also two 'happy wife' points for asthetics. Update- 3 years and still functioning within normal operating parameters, ODD, very odd. |
