ScienceMan's Featured Videos of the Day

Happy New Year everyone!

Yes, believe it or not, ScienceMan is still alive and kicking and adding new content to the ScienceMan site. For proof, check out the interesting chemistry videos below.

Sorry the updates haven't been more frequent, but it's the same old story - ScienceMan has just been too busy with new business ventures to give the ScienceMan website the attention it deserves. But we'll continue to try and update ScienceMan whenever possible.

Video Selections of the Day

Copper and Iodine Reaction

This is an excellent example of a composition reaction. As iodine crystals are heated they vapourize - the iodine vapour then reacts with the copper.

Thermite Reaction

The thermite reaction is a fantastic example of a single replacement, intensely exothermic reaction. Iron (III) oxide and aluminum powder reacted to produce Aluminum (III) oxide and molten iron.

Decomposition of Silver Oxide

Want to make some pure silver? Unfortunately you're not going to get rich... this reaction starts with silver oxide, which will cost you more than the silver you obtain!

Yenka - Cool Science Simulation Software

ScienceMan is always on the lookout for cool new science software, and he may have found just that in Yenka. Yenka is created by the same people who make the terrific Crocodile Physics and Crocodile Chemistry software - Crocodile-Clips.

Yenka is very interesting because it has math, electronics and some physics components (gears) together in one package. ScienceMan is currently testing Yenka, so keep checking back as there will be a full evaluation posted soon.
