Synergy Creations makes some excellent software for the Mac, including the very useful Periodic Table. So I was very pleased to finally take a look at ConverTable Units, an easy-to-use unit converter for Mac Classic and OSX.

There's no learning curve with ConverTable units, just select the appropriate category, then choose the units you wish to convert between from the pull-down menus in the main window.

Easy! The conversion values show up immediately, no annoying wait or button to click.

But what I'm really impressed with is the tutor. If you look in the bottom of the main window, you'll see how the actual unit conversion is done - what an excellent idea for helping students who have problems with these!

There are extra little bonuses included in ConverTable units as well! For one, there's a great window of useful information that's easy to reference;

There's an integrated calculator included as well, with the ability to export numbers to the unit converter - perfect!

This is a great program that will serve your basic unit conversion needs well. If you want fancier conversions, you'll find the program lacking, but it does support a plug-in architecture so you can add you own groups of conversions.
