The movies are not spectacular, but they definitely help with understanding of the concepts. I found the text included with each frame to be very helpful, but the audio leaves something to be desired. The narrator often talks too fast, and his comments don't always match the text content on screen, which can be bit confusing until you figure out what he is talking about. The other problem is the quality of the audio and his voice - I suspect hiring a professional narrator would have been a better choice, and it's made even worse by scratchy recordings.
ScienceMan looked at all the current offerings from MCH, including;
- Introductory Chemistry
- General Chemistry
- Organic Chemistry
- Physics
The content for all are excellent - some really stand out - I thought the physics tutorials were particularly well done.
Another thing you should be aware of is that the content is probably best suited for introductory university courses, however, high school teachers could find many sections useful in their classes.
In my view, having a copy of these CDs handy for tutorial purposes would be an asset to any higher level physics or chemistry classroom.
