The Review!
Holey stretchy molecule Batman, what a great program! Molecular Explorer provides a strong and clear focus on molecular shapes, helping students understand VSEPR theory. The ability of this program to clearly display and manipulate 3D shapes is a real asset to the teacher trying to explain to students why atoms arrange themselves the way they do. I especially like how you can analyse bond angles and stretch molecules only to watch them pop back into their most stable shape.

The CD is available from the Learning Resources Distribution Centre - a great value, and even cheaper when bought in bulk. On the CD you will find a bunch of fantastic interactive Molecular Explorer lessons made with Macromedia.
You can tell the program is in it's infancy, it needs a lot of interface enhancements - still great though, for a first effort. I'm sure future incarnations will be more polished.
I really don't think you can go wrong with this offering and besides, you Alberta teachers will be supporting a homegrown product!
