Superconductivity - Meissner Effect - Magnet Levitates

Supercondutors don't allow magnetic fields to penetrate, so a magnet placed on top of superconductor will levitate. The superconductor in this demo is the black disc - it is a substance known as YBCO (yttrium barium copper oxide), and it superconducts at a temperature high enough (77K) that liquid nitrogen can be used to make it reach its superconducting temperature.
