Sodium and Water Reaction

One of the most interesting strongly exothermic reactions is the one occurs between sodium and water. When these two substances react, sodium hydroxide and hydrogen gas are formed. The exothermic nature of the reaction causes the hydrogen to react, producing a bright flame.
